Server first Monk Guide (1st Tip: Don’t roll Panda)

Published on April 6, 2012 by in Class

So Blizzard has four choices…

A) Disable all RAF benefits from monks for some time period after release of MoP (both grantable levels and 300% xp bonus).

B) Disable grantable levels for RAF for monks

C) Disable new RAF signups 3 months or more before MoP’s release (which will need to be soon).

D) Allow RAF, but make a character that’s been granted levels or ever completes a quest or dungeon with the 300% xp bonus ineligible for realm first leveling achievements.

The most optimal method would be to have a RaF account with prestored levels to grant ready to go to boost the monk to 80. But I highly doubt this will qualify you for the achievement OR be active when Mists of Pandaria is released. So below are my two methods…

METHOD ONE (Option B for Blizzard): RaF is allowed with experience bonus from level one:

The first step is to find a friend who is prepared to play almost non-stop until level 80. Once you have found this friend, recruit him one week before MoP is released. Once recruited, have him move one of his level 85s to the recruited account and farm heirlooms if they don’t have any already (see below for heirloom recommendations). Make sure you, the recruiter, have heirlooms as well.

Heirlooms: Shadowcraft Gear – Helm (Guild perk), Shoulders (JP), Chest (JP), Cloak (Guild perk), Two 1 handed maces/swords ( 2x http://www.wowhead.com/item=48716/venerable-mass-of-mcgowan for DPS / Tank, or buy http://mop.wowhead.com/item=79131 ) Trinkets, Ring % from fishing derby in WoTLK.

I strongly suggest justice point gear over honour resilience gear due to the stat benefits.

After this, prepare additional material (spilt between both toons):

• Have a level 25 guild ready to invite you both; hearth faster, fly/ride faster, 10% experience increase.
• 20k gold; flying training and other purchases along the way
• X8 Embersilk bags
• X60 Flasks of the wind
• X 240 Tol’vir potions
• X 60 Runescroll of Fortitude II(lvl85)
• X60 Runescroll of Fortitude
• X 30 Twilight Leg armour
• X 80 Adventures Journal
• X 60 Fortune Cookie
• X1 Epic Guild Tabard
• X4 SHOULDERS ENCHANT (Better start grinding BC Reputation, if you don’t want to grind use leatherworking +stamina “leatherworking kits”)
• X40AGILITY GEMS (DEMONSEYE)
• x200 SWIFTNESS POTIONS (50%SPEED BUFF)
•Buy up level 78-80 Catacylsm greens to equip in chest, legs, gloves, etc (replace 1-80 BoAs and other gear)

Thirdly, the recruiter needs to place his level 80+ toons around Azeroth to summon the recruitee to questing hubs / new zones, then log back in to his monk and have the recruitee summon them (short 30minute CD). Make sure the toons with the heirlooms and supply list is located next to the mailbox.

Fourthly, upon release pick a class other than panda as their starting zone will be over-populated. Do not pick the starting area that everyone states is the fastest, pick the one that you are more familiar with. I would advise against goblin starting area as I find that place slow and has a lot of object pick-up quests which will be difficult if the zone is flooded. Do not loot mobs, unless they drop quest items.

After you reach level 5-7 and have moved from the starting zone to the first town, i.e. goldshire, razorhill etc, log on to the toons containing the supplies and mail the heirlooms, gold, bags, etc.

Log back in to pandas and continue to quest utilising the conveniently placed high level toons for fast summoning.

As soon as LFG/LFD opens up, start using it. One monk should be tank, the other healer and spam dungeons until level 58, whilst questing.

Once you reach 58 you can power through BC content, or continue to dungeon.

After reaching 68 I would suggest questing as some of the WoTLK dungeons are slow, ie nexus. However you may get lucky and keep drawing UK, Drak, Azjol Nerub and gundrak.

Upon reaching level 80, abandon your friend and leave him for death. On second thought, queue LFD and if you draw BRD do it, if you draw the slow naga dungeon, bail and leave your friend for death. Quest in hyjal until you ding 82, quest in deepholm until you ding 83, quest in uldum until 84 and then twilight highlands until 85. But, if the new MoP zones allow entrance at 83 it may be more optimum to skip ahead and go there depending on the amount of traffic.

Final step: level 85-90 using a levelling guide or drawing from extensive beta experience.

PROFIT!

Method two: RAF does not work.

Follow method one without a partner using the same supply list (divide by two for each item). Quest all the way, doing each dungeon that offers quests at the start once.

Profit!

Mists of Pandaria Release Date

Published on April 4, 2012 by in Class, General, PVE, PVP

Blizzard product release schedule was leaked awhile back now and it speculates MOP should be released Q2 2012.  Obviously this estimate is no longer relevant due to the push back of D3 until May.  So how can we be sure the  release will be in Q3 2012?

1) Arena signup starts April 10th. Signups should last less than 3 months, with the competition going for 6 weeks.

2) Blizzard WoW Betas never exceed three months

3) Blizzard’s investor statement announced at least one title will be released this year.

4) The expansion will be announced approximately two months before hand.

So the answer is, we should see the expansion annoucement shortling after Diablo III’s release mid May for a mid to late July release.  This will leave room for a SC2 Expansion + Heart of the Swarm release Q4, most likely November.

PS. Sign up to the annual pass!
